Private Consultations and continuation of care
Some patients are choosing to see a private Consultant, who will then provide an opinion and/or treat a patient in the private sector, offering ongoing treatment for that particular condition.
In this situation, that Consultant maintains clinical responsibility for the patient regarding that condition. Until the consultant discharges the patient, that episode of care continues, and the clinical responsibility remains with that Consultant. Should there be a need to prescribe, the Consultant should prescribe privately for their private patient.
A private prescription cannot be exchanged for an NHS prescription and our GPs cannot issue prescriptions in such a situation, as they are not clinically responsibility for managing that particular condition.
Training Afternoon
The Practice will be closed for training between 1.00pm - 5.00pm on Thursday 5th Sept 2024.

Common Ailments Service
Pharmacists are experts in medicines who can also help you with minor health concerns.
As qualified healthcare professionals, they can dispense prescribed medication and offer free clinical advice and over-the-counter medicines for a range of common ailments, such as coughs, colds, skin rashes, bites and aches and pains.
Pharmacies throughout Wales offer a Common Ailments Service. The Common Ailments Service offers patients a free NHS consultation and free medication for 27 common ailments that cannot be managed by self-care alone, offering an alternative to making an appointment with the GP or an out-of-hours doctor.
