Training Doctors

We provide training for doctors from various medical institutes, including the Maelor hospital.

These doctors may be sitting in with your GP during an appointment or they may have their own appointments to see patients.

They will, however, always be supervised by one of the doctors within the surgery.

Nurse Practitioners

Nurse Helen Price (f)

Sr Helen Price is the Senior Practice Nurse and a qualified Advanced Nurse Practitioner.

Advanced nurse practitioners are highly-trained health professionals that can undertake complex reviews of patients, similar to GPs. They can assess symptoms and build a picture of a patient's condition, treat minor health problems, infections, minor injuries and prescribe medication where necessary

A nurse is available, by appointment only, Monday – Friday, 09:00 – 18:00. Please check when booking an appointment, as some of these services are not provided by all of the nurses.

Healthcare Assistants

Healthcare assistants support practice nurses with their daily work and carry out tasks such as phlebotomy (drawing blood), blood pressure measurement and new patient checks. They may act as a chaperone when a patient or doctor requests one.

Mrs Leanne Jones (f)

Practice Manager

Leanne joined the practice in August 2022.

Leanne has a diploma in business management and prior to joining the practice, spent 20 years working within the dental industry. 6 of these years were with the Royal Air Force.

Leanne looks after the day to day administrative and financial management of the practice, and supports the clinicians as well as the wider management team.

Deputy Practice Manager

Ian supports the Practice Manager with the day to day administrative and financial aspects of the practice.

The practice manager is involved in managing all of the business aspects of the practice such as making sure that the right systems are in place to provide a high quality of patient care, human resources, finance, patient safety, premises and equipment and information technology. The practice manager supports the GPs and other medical professionals with delivering patient services and also helps to develop extended services to enhance patient care.

Reception

Reception Manager

Lesley supports the reception team, along with the day to day management of the reception desk.

Receptionists provide an important link for patients with the practice and are your initial contact point for general enquiries. They can provide basic information on services and results and direct you to the right person depending on your health issue or query. Receptionists make most of the patient appointments with the GPs and nurses. They also perform other important tasks such as issuing repeat prescriptions and dealing with prescription enquiries, dealing with financial claims, dealing with patient records and carrying out searches and practice audits.

Community Midwives

The midwives attached to our surgery are employed by Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board NHS trust.

On discovering that you are pregnant, you can book directly in with the midwife. Ask for a booking appointment with the midwife in reception.

You no longer need to see your GP. The midwife will organise all of your antenatal care, arrange hospital referral and ultrasound scans and then review you regularly throughout your pregnancy.

On the birth of your baby, the midwife will see you to provide postnatal care and advice for the first few weeks.

A post natal check is advised at 6 weeks. This is usually with your GP and will need to be booked at reception.

Health Visitors

A health visitor is a registered nurse who has received training particularly related to babies, children and pregnant women. Their role is to provide families with children under five years old with support and advice around the general aspects of mental, physical and social wellbeing.
